Social networking giant Facebook to create social search engine

There are some reports that suggest that Facebook is working on creating a new search engine for enhancing the experience of better navigation on the social network. Facebook has employed large number of engineers those are working round the clock on this ambitious project under former Google engineer Lars Rasmussen for drastically improving the search engine on Facebook.Facebook to create social search engine

The objective of this project is to help users easily browse through the volume of content that its members generate on the site. There is lots of information in terms of articles, videos status updates across the web that people like using Facebook’s ubiquitous thumbs-up button. So far there has been a little effort on Facebook’s part to improve its search engine, which currently lets people find other users info with the help of an age-old partnership with Microsoft’s search engine, Bing.

Nevertheless, Facebook still needs to focus on the small search engine box situated at the top of each user’s page. This action of social networking site is being seen as a blatant move to challenge Google similarly as the search giant is moving in the opposite direction and taking on social networking site by launching Google+.

We strongly believe that Facebook has the potential to change the present scenario and can create a very different search experience. Its users have helped Facebook with lot of info by hitting the like button which social networking giant can use for improving its search to a great extent. With lists, subscriptions, likes, and location data, Facebook could let us perform a direct query with a specific group of people. But what would that experience look like, is still a big question.
